Adopted: June 1998
Pronounced: Oo-hawn-ee
Previously named Spirit

'Uhane was a very shy girl when we adopted her two years ago. She trembled whenever we put her in the car and took her to new places. Now she loves exploring new parks and always the first in the car. As soon as 'Uhane knows we are going someplace, she races down the hall barking and presses her nose against the garage door to make sure she can be the first in the car and get the best spot to sit. Her favorite place on the backseat is behind an open front window so that she can feel secure and get the wind through her hair.

We never realized what a snuggle bunny a Keeshond could be. 'Uhane is the first in our bed and the last out. She claims the middle of the bed as her place and always manages to find room there even if it involves climbing on top of someone and even sitting on them to get it. She is a very sharing little girl, she will let people sit on her couch as long as she gets petted. She often cries if we choose to sit elsewhere. 'Uhane isn't thrilled when Mariah or Wolfy want to share her bed or couch and if we lift them up, she is naughty and tries to nip their toes.

'Uhane loves her babies (stuffed animals) and will play with them for hours. When she is done playing with her favorite ones, she will put them up on her couch or table to keep them away from her brother and sister. She no longer runs out of the room when her babies squeak, she now talks back to them. When we throw them in the air for her to catch, 'Uhane often uses her front paws instead of her mouth to catch them.

This summer both 'Uhane & Mariah completed basic obedience and she is getting more confident. She sometimes barks at strangers but more often she wants to be petted. 'Uhane loves going to the park and often herds Wolfy and Mariah when we use long leashes. 'Uhane seldom does things that need correcting but when she does, she starts smiling and too often we forget she should be in trouble.

'Uhane's former family turned her over to rescue after they moved to a new condominium and the neighbor kept poisoning her.
